Marine Discovery Center
In collaboration with organizations like Marine Discovery Center, University of Central, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and One Lagoon - Indian River Lagoon National Estuary Program, we engage in restoration projects to protect the Indian River Lagoon's delicate ecosystem. Volunteers can participate in mangrove plantings, shoreline cleanups, and educational outreach programs. Check their calendar for upcoming events and make a difference in this vital ecosystem.
Hobe Sound Nature Center
The Hobe Sound Nature Center, a nonprofit nestled within the Nathaniel P. Reed Hobe Sound National Wildlife Refuge, is a vibrant hub for environmental education and outdoor exploration in Martin County.
Open six days a week (Mon–Sat 9 am–4 pm, Sun 10 am–2 pm), with refuge trails and lagoon access available daily from sunrise to sunset, admission is free (donation-based), supporting conservation, resident wildlife care, and dynamic programming
Manatee Observation & Education Center – Fort Pierce, FL
Nestled along the scenic waterfront of Fort Pierce, the Manatee Observation & Education Center offers a serene and immersive way to connect with Florida’s gentle giants. During the cooler months, resident manatees gather in the warm canal waters, and visitors can observe them gracefully swimming through on-site observation decks.
Inside, knowledgeable docents guide adults and children alike through engaging exhibits about manatee biology, conservation, and the region’s diverse wildlife. The center provides a peaceful escape for learning, photography, or simply admiring these majestic creatures in their natural habitat.
With free admission, the center is a perfect family destination and a meaningful way to support local conservation efforts. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply looking for a unique educational outing, this hidden gem in Fort Pierce is a must-visit.
Indian River Lagoon Day Collaboration
Each year, Anglers for Conservation proudly collaborates with Brevard County Natural Resources and the City of Melbourne to celebrate Indian River Lagoon Day. This free, family-friendly event highlights the beauty and importance of our local estuary through hands-on activities, educational exhibits, and community engagement. Together, we inspire stewardship and promote lagoon-friendly practices to protect one of Florida’s most vital natural treasures.
Coastal & Estuarine Ecology Lab (CEELAB) – University of Central Florida
Our collaboration with Dr. Linda Walters at UCF’s Coastal & Estuarine Ecology Lab (CEELAB) is where Executive Director Carla Perscky first got involved in STEM and marine conservation. CEELAB offers hands-on volunteer opportunities like building oyster habitats, planting coastal vegetation, and assisting with restoration efforts throughout the Indian River Lagoon. These experiences connect students and community members to real-world science and inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC)
Anglers for Conservation partners with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to support conservation through hands-on fieldwork and habitat education. Together, we've participated in multiple seagrass surveys to better understand and protect local marine ecosystems.
Special thanks to FWC biologist Annie Roddenbery for her invaluable mentorship and guidance in the field. Her leadership has helped deepen our connection to Florida’s habitats.
Additionally, FWC generously provides educational materials and outreach giveaways that enhance our youth programs and help inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.
Satellite Beach, FL
Join us in Satellite Beach, a community built on the spirit of volunteerism. Through our partnership with the Satellite Beach Recreation Department, we offer opportunities to participate in beach cleanups, Samsons Island workdays, and special events like Hook Kids on Fishing. Whether you're assisting with seasonal camps or contributing to community beautification, your efforts help preserve Satellite Beach's natural beauty.
Brevard Zoo
Through our partnership with Brevard Zoo's Restore Our Shores and University of Central Florida, we support oyster reef restoration and coastal habitat preservation in Brevard County. Volunteers are needed for oyster mat building, reef monitoring, and shoreline cleanups. Your hands-on efforts help rebuild healthy ecosystems for future generations.
Anglers for Conservation proudly partners with the Scouts of America to provide hands-on fishing experiences and boating safety education for scout troops. Through these programs, scouts gain essential outdoor skills, learn about conservation ethics, and build confidence on the water—all while working toward badges and developing a deeper connection to nature.
