Building marine stewards for future generations!

Designed for youth and families with little or no angling experience, Hook Kids on Fishing started in 2004.  This program has introduced children and parents to conservation-minded fishing through a multi-station program that provides basic instruction: rod handling, tackle, casting, safety and knot tying.

Hook Kids on Fishing

Parents and kids bring your smiles,
positive attitudes and passion for our environment along with you!

TAUGHT BY EXPERTS

Our volunteers and educators are professional fishing guides, skillful anglers, scientists and subject matter experts in fishing, boating, marine and outdoor recreation.

HANDS-ON EXPERIENCE

Designed to provide a basic understanding of Indian River Lagoon ecosystems and fisheries, and help people develop the skills, knowledge and responsibilities associated with sustainable angling and boating.

VALUABLE INFORMATION

Parents and kids participate in multiple stations to learn about conservation of Indian River Lagoon fisheries and ecosystems, casting and fishing safety, knot tying and tackle box essentials, catch and release tactics, essential fish habitats, and much more!

INCREASES ACCESS TO FISHING

Our organization increases access to fishing in our community thanks to our sponsors like Fish Florida providing a free tackle box, rod and reel for each new angler. To protect themselves from the sun, program participants get free swag from HUK Gear!
