Programs - Anglers for Conservation

The Anglers for Conservation is organized exclusively for charitable, scientific and educational purposes, including for such purposes, the distributions of funds  to organizations and, more specifically, to create a new generation of coastal stewards using community based angling education, habitat restoration and applied conservation science.

Anglers for Conservation’s mission is to create a new generation of coastal stewards using community-based angling education, habitat restoration and applied conservation science. Through funding from individual donors and grants from foundations and government, the Anglers for Conservation will offer its programs to various segments of the general public in the community.

Anglers for Conservation will develop and expand beyond the four primary programs that support the goals of the organization.  Among them will be nationally recognized "AFC Certification" programs for all aspects and levels of participation and practice in angling and environmental protection.

Currently Anglers for Conservation is expanding our more mature programs, stimulating development of more recently established activities, partnering with allied agencies, organizations and members of the business community, and increased funding for Anglers for Conservation activities through recruitment, community centered events and pursuit of endowments, donations and grants.

  • Angler Education

The goal of the Angler Education program is to educate the general public in basic fishing skills and use of conservation-minded methods in order to protect the fish, habitat and angler.

  • Hook Kids on Fishing

The goal of the Hook Kids on Fishing program is to establish activities for kids and parents alike to learn basic fishing skills and how to use, not abuse our waterways. Kids six to 16 are welcome, and their parents are encouraged to stay and learn alongside their children. The program includes hands-on clinics on casting, conservation, knot tying, catch and release, and fishing with professional guides. Donated rods and reels are distributed to kids who need them

  • Habitat Restoration

The goal of the Habitat Restoration program is to restore marine and estuarine habitats in order to improve fishing opportunities in the future; and to make citizens aware of the value of natural habitats, the dangers that cause loss, the impact of that loss and the value of restoration.

  • Applied Conservation

The goal of the Applied Conservation program is to collect recreational fishing data from the general public; to compile that data into accessible databases, and to use that data for analysis and to make the general public aware of any findings.
